Meet The Team
Our setting is overseen by our experienced manager, Katie Hatfield (QTS), deputy manager, Sonia Cadenhead, and team leader, Danielle Jackson who have over 20 years combined experience working at Funfishers.
Katie Hatfield (OTS) - Manager
I have been the proud manager of Funfishers since 2021. Working in the setting since 2007, I have built unbelievably bonds with so many families whilst developing my own knowledge and skills from being a practitioner, completing my teaching degree and navigating my way into senior positions as the years went by. In recent years, I have personally as well as professionally learnt what it means to have support from someone who has your child’s safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do; and this is why I love the job I do. Nothing beats that feeling of seeing a child achieve something for the first time; encouraging them to build resilience and a can do attitude in a challenge they once felt they maybe couldn’t achieve; offering advice to a family to know that they have a network around them and a trusting relationship in Funfishers; developing my own knowledge and skills to in turn give the best to our deserving children who are within our care; and most importantly opening the door every day to see an array of unique faces who are welcomed into our setting to have a day filled with learning and enjoyment! My passion for childcare and wanting to work with children started when I was a little girl and I endeavour for this to now be reflected in the work that I do at Funfishers. |
Sonia Cadenhead - Deputy Manager
My name is Sonia and I have been part of this wonderful nursery for the past two years. I am proud to serve as the Deputy Manager, a role that allows me to support the team in creating a safe, happy, and nurturing environment for every child. In addition to my managerial role, I am the nursery’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). This means I work closely with children who have additional needs to help them thrive and reach their full potential. I am also here to support parents by offering guidance and access to resources, ensuring we work together to provide the best possible care for their little ones. I am currently completing my Level 6 qualification, which is further deepening my knowledge and skills in early years education. I have always been passionate about seeing children grow and develop during their time with us—it’s incredibly rewarding to watch their confidence and abilities flourish as they explore, learn, and play.
I truly believe that every child is unique, and I am committed to helping them discover their strengths and interests in our warm and inclusive setting. It’s such a privilege to be part of their journey during these formative years. |
Danielle Jackson - Team Leader
My name is Danielle and my role as part of the management team at Funfishers is team leader along with being the baby and toddler room leader. I have worked at Funfishers for over 10 years and have over 21 years experience within childcare. I have had a passion for working with children since I was in primary school, and worked really hard to make my dream become a reality through placements, college, and work based learning. Most recently, I have completed a childcare level 5 qualification. I am married and have a son, I love to spend time with my family and friends and have a love for music.
Childcare really is the most rewarding and heart-warming job, seeing each child learn and develop through play is so lovely to observe. |
